RETREATS

The bud
stands for all things,
even for those things that don't flower,
for everything flowers, from within,

of self-blessing;
though sometimes it is necessary
to reteach a thing its loveliness,
to put a hand on its brow of the flower
and retell it in words and in touch
it is lovely
until it flowers again from within,

of self-blessing.
[Poem by Galway Kinnell]

Know yourself. He who knows himself, knows God. He who knows himself, knows all human beings. He who can love himself, loves all human beings. He who loves his neighbour loves God, and he who loves God, loves his own soul. [Father of monasticism, St Anthony of the desert]

Rest * Restore * Retreat * Relax * Renew * Rejuvenate * Revive

Retreat offers us an opportunity to withdraw from our everyday life and from society for a while. Retreat is like breathing in: a time to deeply breathe in and connect with who we are and how we wish to live our life to the fullest. We allow ourselves the time to connect with our own deepest source of being. Perhaps we gain fresh insights and new meanings. Then we can go out into the world again and breathe out: whatever we have gained from our experience we take with us, and share in our relationships and our society. [Tenzin Palmo]
